Inga and Matthew had a Hart House wedding straight out of a fairytale and I’m so excited to share it with you!
Inga and Matthew got hitched at Hart House in Toronto, and I couldn’t wish for a better way to spend my Saturday than celebrating with these two lovebirds. Being a quintessential NYC couple (both live and work in New York), they envisioned a classic and timeless celebration for their wedding day. You could spot sleek tuxedos and glamorous black bridal party dresses, and a classic black, white and gold colour scheme. Taking place at the historic Hart House building, their wedding was a real modern times fairytale.
There’s something so magical about University of Toronto weddings and Hart House could easily be my favourite wedding venue on the campus. Its monumental design lends for unique wedding photographs that are full of character, charm and style. With its Gothic architecture, beautiful windows and a timeless look, it photographs oh-so-well. No wonder I get excited every time we get to shoot at U of T! With its unique architecture and abundance of columns there’s always new angles and interesting compositions to explore, no matter how many times we’ve shot there. It only proves that photography and architecture go hand in hand!
We started the day with Inga’s getting ready in the morning. At the moment her girls helped her put on her wedding dress and veil, you could tell that the day is going to be filled with emotions. For Inga’s father’s reveal, I arranged for them to meet at the base of the Gothic staircase. Filled with such drama and class, it’s one of my favourite father-daughter reveals of all time!
When I asked Inga why they decided to opt for a Hart House wedding, she told me they loved how timeless and elegant it looks. They really liked the idea of mixing new and old, and edgy and timeless. So when it came to their wedding portraits, I tried to keep their background as simple as possible. The Hart House’s sleek arches and clean lines helped bring Inga and Matthew’s chic wedding outfits to the forefront of the image and highlighting what matters most – their genuine emotions and love for each other.
After a heartfelt ceremony at the Hart House’ courtyard, the guests were invited to join the newlyweds at The Great Hall for delicious food, live music and a candle-lit celebration. My favourite part? The bride and groom’s late night send off full of hundreds of sparklers! Filled with laughter, cheer and magic lights, I couldn’t imagine a more perfect ending to the perfect day.
Inga and Matthew, thank you so much for making us a part of your beautiful Hart House wedding. We wish you nothing but all the happiness in the world!
