Outdoor wedding venues come with their unique benefits and advantages when it comes to your wedding photography. When you’re visiting different outdoor wedding venues for scouting purposes, keep in mind that there are three unique factors to consider: your personality, light and texture, and weather conditions. Let me walk you through all three of them to help you make a better choice when it comes to outdoor wedding venues.
First, we strive to capture your unique personality and who you are as a couple in every shot as we photograph your engagement session and your wedding. When you’re visiting outdoor wedding venues, ask these questions: Do I feel at home here? What does it say about us as a couple? Trust me, you will know it when you see your ideal wedding venue. Your wedding photographs are the only tangible memory that will be left after your wedding, so make sure your choice of location is perfect for you and your guests.
As for light and texture, there are two types of outdoor wedding venues: light vs. dark. Light venues are great for taking those airy and tender bridal portraits. They will look perfect against your white gown and will give the overall wedding coverage a very timeless, classy look. Dark venues, on the contrary, are often more masculine and are great for more moody, artistic images. These are usually barns, warehouses and rooftops. As a wedding photographer, I often prefer when your wedding venue has a combination of both to achieve a nice variety of shots.
Third, it goes without saying that weather conditions play a huge role in planning your outdoor wedding. My go-to rule? I suggest having a wide tent for any type of outdoor celebration, whether rain or shine. Tents will protect you and your guests from burning sun and keep you dry during the rain. Feel free to decorate and throw some flowers on top. Your wedding is all about celebrating love and your union, regardless of weather conditions!
