This stunning St. Lawrence Kitchen Market wedding will have every city lover swooning. Kristen and Matt tied the knot amongst their family and friends, and it couldn’t have been more awesome! When I asked her what inspired her wedding, Kristen said, “We wanted to create a non-traditional wedding with traditional elements that were important to us. We got engaged in Paris, so we wanted a slightly French undertone, but not in an obvious way. We were drawn to St Lawrence Market Kitchen, as we love the history of the building, as well as the open modern kitchen – food is an important part of our relationship!”
Keeping their adventurous and hip personalities in mind, we took a more photojournalistic approach to their wedding day coverage to show all the little moments of joy and the thrill of the day. Kristen got ready at the King Edward Hotel, and the entire morning was filled with quiet anticipation before the wedding ceremony. When it came to their wedding portraits, our focus was on the timelessness of the locations they chose. We started their wedding portraits at St. Michael’s College because we love that it has an Old World charm to it. Paired with Kristen’s modern, sleek cut wedding dress, this location was perfect for some natural, yet elegant photos of just the bride and groom that look traditional and super chic at the same time.
As we arrived at the church I had to take a moment to absorb the grandeur and majesty of the building’s architecture. The cascading window light from the stained glass created a soft look for the ceremony which added a magical feel. Perfect for Kristen and Matt’s special vows.
They had a very modern reception at the trendy St Lawrence Market area. There were no assigned tables or a set menu. Instead, they had various food stations across the Market Kitchen and the guests enjoyed custom cocktails throughout the night. Every detail of this wedding was connected personally to the bride and groom as the food and DJ services were provided by close friends of the couple.
The simple yet elegant elements really brought this wedding together and made for one fine day to remember. It is amazing to see how couples tie tradition and modern into a fun twist full of charm and unique personality. Kristen and Matt selected stunning locations for their wedding day that not only offered a perfect balance between modern and traditional elements but also had meaning to them as well. There was a little bit of city fun and classic elegance laced into each image thanks to the various locations we visited during this city wedding.
- Memorable Menu
The couple opted for a less traditional dinner for their reception and added various food stations with an open concept sitting arrangement. No head table, or assigned tables at this wedding! It was a fun environment for guests to mingle as they danced the night away together!
- Keeping It Loose
It was very important for Kristen and Matt’s day to be simple yet elegant. They were surrounded by friends and family, some of which were responsible for the services that brought the night together. Between the music, food and friendly faces all around, you couldn’t ask for a better crowd.
