Theresa and Ryan’s love story sounds like its out of a storybook, so it’s no surprise that when it came to planning their Casa Loma wedding, they chose the ultimate romantic decor filled with out of this world floral design. They met when they were just four years old and have been connected ever since. Even Ryan’s engagement shows what a Prince Charming he is. Over a number of months he gave Theresa multiple gifts; a music box, an angel, a rose, an engagement ring and a yearbook (which spell out MARRY), each item having special significance to them. Although, being a true mysterious prince, he didn’t reveal these reasons to her until his personalized wedding vows! Doesn’t that sound like something out of a rom-com! I loved getting to know the couple and their story made me fall more in love with them and I was excited to be involved with their special day.

As a Torontonian, Casa Loma has always had a special place in my heart. It’s a piece of old world charm and history in the heart of Toronto. Its 60 ft ceilings with their beautifully handcrafted woodwork, and the exquisite five acres of lush gardens with their beautiful selection of rare flowers, fountains, sculptures and topiary have an elegance that truly brings the idea of modern royalty to life. There’s a timelessness to the castle and grounds that all but guarantee that years from now the photos, and more importantly the memories will still retain their beauty and never go out of style.

The couple were married in the gardens under the gorgeous deconstructed, metal arch. It had been wrapped with fresh pink, peach and blush blooms. I don’t know about you, but i’m a real sucker for a big burst of flowers! I especially loved the way her tiered Badgley Mischka ball gown mirrored the layers of the roses all around her, adding to the magic of it all.

To bring their fairytale Casa Loma wedding vision to life, I shot their creative photos at magic hour, in the romantic gardens, adding to the dreamy and soft quality I wanted to create for them. For sure a wow moment was when they brought out the gorgeous, white horse drawn carriage. Cinderella would have been jealous!

Taking place in the all glass pavilion, the reception was a heightened sensory experience that delighted the eyes, ears and nose. Continuing on with her work from the gardens, Rachel A. Clingen, had the pavilion bursting with life and flora with her beautiful centrepieces and bouquets which carried the most intoxicating perfumes around the room, with the piece de resistance being the two life sized trees which Ryan and Theresa dined under. Trees have special meaning for the couple, the first reason being that Theresa views Ryan as her tree, because he will always protect her. The second being that trees require water, sunshine and air to grow, and Ryan views Theresa as all of these and she will always help him grow. One of my favourite photos of the evening is of them sitting beneath these two trees, as you could just feel their love radiate into the ambiance of the room. Along with all the natural light radiating in through the walls, there were also gorgeous crystal chandeliers suspended under the white canopies, providing Casa Loma with an added sparkle and a glow that lit up the evening and filled everyone with all the warm and fuzzies.

As a wistful and hopeless romantic myself, I always have a special place in my heart for shooting a Casa Loma wedding – it really makes it feel as if dreams can come true, and we at MANGO are very grateful to Theresa and Ryan for allowing us to be a part of their special day. Theresa and Ryan we wish you all the best in the world and can’t wait to follow along on the rest of your happily ever after.
