Shooting High Park engagement photos is one of my favorite things to do. The park is as varied and diverse as the couples we get here at MANGO, so you can always find a nook, a tree, a bend by the river to suit whatever needs or desires the couple has. So when Kristen and Kelleher told me that they wanted to do their engagement shoot there I was excited and brimming with ideas.

I think engagement shoots are so special because it is really the beginning of our journey with the couple. Weddings and the days leading up can be so fast paced and high energy and days like this gives us a chance to get to know each other, suss each other’s personalities and style, and oh boy, do Kristen and Kelleher have style!!!

Kelleher looked very dashing in a white button-up shirt and a classic trench coat, which never goes out of style. Kristen had on a grey wool blazer, brown Chelsea boots and a silk scarf tied elegantly around her neck. In outfits that could rival that of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, I immediately knew I didn’t want just any old backdrop for these High Park engagement photos, I wanted them to look like they were in the English countryside!

It’s pretty arguable that there is no better time of year to shoot engagement photos than the autumn. Not only does the crisp air just make you want to snuggle together, but the different colors and types of leaves add texture and brilliance to the photos that create the most wonderful canvas for us to work on!

Their looks were so classic and timeless that I wanted the scenery to reflect that, so we took full advantage of the amazing nature around us! We utilized fallen tree trunks, tall grass and river banks (you can even spot some cute local ducks we cast as extras!). A good tip when thinking about shooting your engagement photos is making sure you dress for your surroundings. All of the colors Kristen and Keller chose not only complimented their surroundings but each other as well, making the photos that much more appealing to the eye.

My absolutely favorite part of shooting their High Park engagement photos, was when the two were under this massive tree that we found. It was tall, strong and sturdy and it had leaves of all colors on its branches! It towered over them, creating a photo that feels like it belongs in a magazine. As they stood underneath it, sharing a kiss it dawned on me what a wonderful metaphor this tree is for going into a marriage. Strong roots make sure the tree can withstand any storm, and after spending the day with these two, that’s exactly the feeling they give me.
