Veronica and Craig’s beautiful winter wedding is one for the books. We can’t stop swooning over Veronica’s effortless grace and how dazzling they looked together on their Big Day! Their magazine-worthy One King West wedding was inspired by the Oscars afterparty and was filled with white, black, gold and marble details.
Veronica and Craig were introduced to each other by Craig’s sister 11 years ago. Despite the fact that Craig lived and played professional hockey in the US at the time, they both knew instantly that they were meant to be and weren’t afraid to nurture their long distance love. On Valentine’s Day they were having a dinner at Veronica’s favorite restaurant in downtown Toronto. After dinner, Craig insisted that they return to their hotel room where astounded Veronica found their suite covered in hundreds of rose petals! Being Valentine’s Day Veronica didn’t suspect anything at first, but as she turned to Craig she saw him kneeling down on one knee,“Will you marry me?” he asked and she excitedly replied “Yes!”.
After their winter wonderland wedding ceremony at the Metropolitan United Church, I took them for wedding portraits in downtown Toronto. As their entire wedding day was inspired by the modern elegance and timeless chic, I wanted their wedding photo location to be as elegant as their wedding venue. With its marble buildings and sleek architecture, the Financial District was a perfect choice. I loved how the old architecture stands tall and elegant amongst the modern skyscrapers, making for a nice contrast of old and new. I also loved how romantic the city looked in their winter wedding photos, frozen in time with city lights in the background.
There’s something utterly romantic about winter wedding photos. The downtown core is getting with the spirit of the holidays, everything is decorated with beautiful ornaments. The city’s glimmering lights lends itself to romantic ambiance and you’re forced to hold each other tight to keep warm, everything I wish for to produce flawless wedding photographs! If I had one piece of advice for my winter wedding couples, it would be to embrace the winter wonderland! With lots of people opting for a summer wedding, your winter wedding celebration and hence photos will stand out from the rest. Make the most out of it and embark on a winter adventure, soaking in every minute of your Big Day.
As we wrapped our creative photo shoot it was time to party! You can imagine my reaction when I entered the Grand Banking Hall at One King West, overflowing with rows of cherry trees, paired with ultra-sleek boxes of crisp white tulips and tall glimmering candles. They turned the One King West into a true winter fairytale! Melissa Baum who orchestrated this winter wedding made sure every detail was impeccable, while Rachel Clingen of Rachel A. Clingen Wedding & Event Design worked her magic and transformed the hall into a winter wonderland. Veronica said, “My second favorite moment after walking down the aisle was seeing the reception room for the first time, my jaw dropped and I was completely blown away”.
Overall Veronica’s wishes for an Oscars after-party inspired, winter wedding certainly came true. The guests danced the night away to lively tunes and the whole night was filled with laughter, happiness, and tear of joy. Veronica and Craig, I’d like to thank you for making us part of your celebration. We wish you many years of happy marriage!
