This glamourous Grand Luxe wedding is every wedding photographer’s dream!
Where do I even start? Rutha and Jean-Michael are one the kindest and sweetest people I’ve met. It was really fun to get to know them and witness their beautiful wedding day. Rutha is honestly one of the smiliest brides I’ve ever photographed and Jean-Michael has this calm demeanor about him. Together, they put on a glamorous and stylish Grand Luxe wedding many at our studio are still talking about!
We started the morning at a hotel room where Rutha was getting ready for the ceremony. You know those people who are just naturally cool and effortless in front of the camera? Rutha is one of them, I loved taking her tender portraits as she was putting on her cathedral-length veil. There’s something magical about a bride’s morning and I’m a complete sucker for ethereal, airy photographs of the bride. In fact, getting ready is one of my favorite parts of the day. Everything is quiet and calm, filled with anticipation for the day. It’s the best time to get creative and take photojournalistic images that are great openers to tell the story of the day.
Even though Rutha and Jean-Michael saw each other before the ceremony (I know right?!), they had a traditional wedding ceremony at the gorgeous St. Andrew’s Church. As opposed to general belief, it didn’t take away from the magic when the time came to walk down the aisle. As Rutha was making her way down the aisle, I could literally feel Jean-Michael’s overwhelming emotions. He was marrying the love of his life! After the heartfelt vows and many tears of joy, the two were officially hitched!
After the ceremony, we made our way to their creative wedding photo location in Toronto’s Financial District, and met-up with the couple as they arrived in a vintage Rolls Royce. Now here’s something you probably didn’t know about me. I call myself a professional third wheeler because I love how my couples behave when they think I’m not taking photos. I really love that “fly on the wall” approach. During these moments when everyone forgets they’re being photographed the beautiful and genuine reactions come out. That is exactly how I approached Rutha and Jean-Michael’s creative photos. We had a blast walking down the streets of the city, snapping photos along the way. I love how happy, carefree and exhilarated they look. Looking back at them puts a smile on my face every single time.
Their glamourous Grand Luxe wedding was nothing short of amazing. Filled with white balloons and all-white flowers, it was simple, airy and elegant. It was pure perfection. Treasa Brown of Leigh Events made sure everything was impeccable on this wedding day, while Soiree Toronto worked their magic and transformed the Grand Luxe hall into a charming garden. There were many speeches and laughter that night. I loved celebrating Rutha and Jean-Michael’s love alongside their family and friends.
Rutha and Jean-Michael, thank you for letting us capture one of the biggest and happiest days of your life! I wish you all the best in your future together.
