Talking Wedding Photography & Planning Tips with Fab Fete

Fab Fete is a wedding planning boutique in Toronto

A great wedding is a combined effort of all the vendors involved, from wedding photographers and planners, to florists and furniture rentals. That’s why, as wedding photographers, it’s important for us to be in the loop with everyone participating in your wedding to know what to look for and make sure we are ready for anything that’s in store! It’s also crucial for us to stay connected with the vendors after your wedding to share our experiences and lessons learnt. We bounce ideas off each other, which is super inspiring, and what makes us better at what we do. I am a big supporter of being connected to everyone in the wedding industry to propel it forward and inspire each other to be the best. Sharing ideas helps us improve as creatives and artists. It’s that simple. The wedding industry is one big community and every time someone does something amazing, the wedding community is pushed forward. This means better results for everyone involved including the end customer, which is you! Win-win-win. This past week we met up with Fab Fete, an incredible event planning boutique in Toronto. We discussed all things wedding and taped their team brain on this year’s trends. Read our interview below! I’ve also included some of my favourite shots from Ayelet and Adam’s wedding that we worked on together. Hope you enjoy!

MS: What does the perfect wedding day look like in photos?

FF: The perfect wedding day photos will consist of the bride and groom getting ready, the first look (if applicable), the gorgeous ceremony, candid shots of the bridal party and family and fun photos from the reception. We also love to see those special moments and expressive looks captured in the photos.

MS: What are things to consider when planning a wedding?

FF: Make sure to hire a professional wedding planner who will help create the perfect timeline for the day. Experienced wedding planners will know how much time it will take for each part of your special day and will ensure that everything is executed flawlessly and on time.

MS: How can a photographer help you on a wedding day?

FF: Photographers should get along and be respectful of all of the vendors that are a part of the wedding. Every vendor wants the wedding or event to be a huge success and this will be accomplished if everyone works together respectfully.

MS: What are some photo worthy trends you’re seeing this year?

FF: Donut walls, eclectic decor, interactive food stations, custom wedding gowns and tuxes.

MS: What is it about MANGO that attracts you and your clients each year?

FF: All of your photographers are incredibly talented and so easy to work with. You treat us and our clients with respect and most importantly, you make our clients feel special and beautiful on their big day!

Below are some of my favourite shots from Ayelet and Adam’s wedding we worked together with Fab Fete. I loved how modern and classy this wedding was at Toronto’s high-end event venue, Malaparte. Ayelet and Adam are truly any wedding photographer’s dream. They are all smiles and are completely natural in front of the camera. They both live in Chicago, so when it came to their Toronto wedding, they wanted to bring that classy, urban vibe to their wedding style and photos. As both are avid film lovers, we decided to use Mango’s signature candid, photojournalistic approach and played with light and shadow to add additional texture to their downtown photos. Fab Fete incorporated minimalistic, modern style to their wedding decor, making this wedding a true downtown classic. We loved the organic and natural florals from Petite Studio. But more than anything, we loved how glowing and dashing Ayelet and Adam were as the sun set on Malaparte!
