Alexandra and Domenic are no newbies when it comes to all things wedding, and their Artscape Wychwood Barns bridal shower totally proves that.
Mango Studios has had the pleasure of photographing Alexandra and Domenic in not only one, but two engagements photo shoots, as well as multiple of her girlfriend’s weddings. At this point, she’s family! As a photographer herself, Alexandra knows what she wants and what looks good, and our light, airy photography style clicked with her instantly and matched her vision perfectly.
Every event leading up to a wedding is very important and can help set the tone for what’s to come, and Alexandra’s Artscape Wychwood Barns bridal shower did just that. A combination of modern industrialism and rustic chic, the open space of the former transit facility comfortably sat Alexandra’s guests with ample room to move, chat, and celebrate! The raised ceilings, glass entryway, and numerous windows kept the space feeling open without losing the cosiness, intimacy, and celebratory vibes that every bridal shower should have.
The windows and glass openings of the venue were not only beautiful, but they gave the space the perfect ambient, clean, and airy light that made photographing the Artscape Wychwood bridal shower an absolute dream. So much detail went into every physical aspect of the day (shout out to Divine Furniture Rentals, H&H Picnic Table Rentals, and Chairman Mills!), so I made sure to document each carefully picked and placed item. Alexandra was a busy girl during the day, acting as both host and guest, and I wanted to make sure she’d be able to look back on the day through the photographs and remember every perfect detail and get to see some of the ones she may have missed during the whirlwind of the day.
Because we also had the honour of photographing Alexandra’s wedding, we had a detailed gameplan going into the Artscape Wychwood Barns bridal shower to make sure that the lighting, colour palette, and style of shooting would be as close as possible to the forthcoming wedding photography. With Alexandra and Domenic, we are telling a story with multiple layers, and though these layers are in different locations, it was a huge priority for their galleries to be able to tell one, cohesive story: the story of them.
The cactus wallpaper made the perfect spot for posed shots with our bride and all of her favourite people. Candid shots are always a go-to when photographing large events like Alexandra’s Artscape Wychwood bridal shower, but tossing in some more traditional poses like the ones above is still a great idea, especially when you have terrific backgrounds like this wall covered in fun cacti! Alexandra actually brought this cute background in with the help of her vendors, which made the perfect spot for photo opportunities and was a hit with all of her guests (both young and old!).
Alexandra and Domenic’s guests were such a treat to photograph. There was never a moment where someone wasn’t smiling, and being the one to capture these memories for our bride, groom, and their loved ones to look at for their rest of the lives is a thought that makes me all warm and fuzzy inside. I’m definitely in the right line of work! It also helps when you have stunning lighting details, such as the dreamy industrial string lights that lined the ceiling of the venue like perfect little stars. The depth of the space combined with the bokeh of the warm, cozy lights made for a stunning background for larger group pictures, like those featured above, without taking too much attention away from all the beautiful faces of the fabulous guests.
The emotional atmosphere wasn’t the only beautiful thing at the bridal shower. With an event design heavily focused on plants and greenery, the many Baked Naked cakes featured for dessert were a spot-on addition. These cute and equally as delicious treats assisted in pulling all the elements of the event together: from the cacti backdrop to the simple but impactful greenery installations by Cento Landscape, every detail was totally in line with the bride’s vision, and we couldn’t help photographing each piece.
I’d love to thank Alexandra and Domenic for being such massive supporters of Mango Studios, and for letting us have the opportunity to photograph every step of their journey towards eternal bliss together. The creative marriage between Alexandra and Domenic and Mango Studios has been wonderful, easy and enjoyable, and we wish them the same in their own marriage.
