Industrial Wedding at Fermenting Cellar

Here at Mango Studios, we had absolutely no doubt Frances, our own In-House Event Coordinator would throw the ultimate party when it came down to her very own industrial wedding! She did just that with a romantic, tear-jerking ceremony in Toronto’s iconic Fermenting Cellar. Along with her team at Mango Studios taking care of the photography, she brought on some of the best live music bands in the city, one of the signature caterers and Event Wise to help bring her dazzling vision come to life. This red and gold, downtown Toronto wedding proves that industrial design and romance can truly go hand in hand.

Igor’s is Frances’ high school sweetheart and they’ve known each other for more than 11 years. Their relationship reached new heights when Igor proposed to Frances in the middle of Central Park in New York. They knew they wanted to recreate that magical urban ambience at their wedding and Toronto’s Fermenting Cellar was the perfect choice. This industrial, yet elegant venue’s floor-to-ceiling brick walls were paired with romantic floral arrangements by A Petal Or Two. Frances and Igor made their decor even more special by using picture perfect gold details like hand-painted, miniature animal figures as place settings and tons of lush greenery to soften and complement the venue’s exposed brick and rustic accents.

We started the day at Frances’ place with her getting ready photos. Surrounded by her best friends and close family, Frances looked so touching and charming, we couldn’t help but tear up when she read her postcard from Igor during her gift exchange. Igor gave her a copy of the first movie they ever watched together, and she made him a book with all the things she loves about him. The book had little stick figures that looked like them. So romantic! We made sure to capture these candid moments in our super stealth ninja mode in order not to take away from these special moments. We then proceeded to the First Look and reveal in the building’s lobby, which conveniently turned out to be very cozy and homelike.

As for their creative wedding photos, we decided to brave March’s cold weather and do it outside in the Distillery District. At this point, let me tell you that this couple is any wedding photographer’s dream! As In-House event coordinator at the Studio, Frances knows better than anyone else how important it is to relax in front of the camera and just be yourself. That is why it was really easy to take their photos as they were all smiles and giggles! I have to mention what a trooper Igor was. He is one of the most supportive and understanding grooms out there! Not only was he completely trusting, but he was also very photogenic and easy to work with. That’s a killer combo. You just hire the best wedding photographers in the city (us!), trust us to do our job and I promise, you’ll get the most authentic, beautiful portraits that will be the truest reflection of your wedding and who you are.

Their intimate wedding reception took place in the Toronto’s Fermenting Cellar. “I never wanted a wedding, but I always said if I did get married it was going to be at the Fermenting Cellar. It has the perfect mix of industrial and romance. When I looked at the venue, I just instantly fell in love with the exposed beams and walls. I also love that it used to be an old Whisky Brewery. We love whisky and it’s a really cool story to tell people” – says Frances as she recollects her wedding day. “I had over 300 gold animals scattered throughout the venue, which I spray painted myself on my small balcony. It took me a year but it was a beautiful addition to the decor.”  We were lucky to spend the whole day with the couple and dance till 6 a.m in the morning with the newlyweds. Being our own teammate, Frances gave us complete creative freedom over her wedding photography and we couldn’t be happier with the results. Candid, cool and photojournalistic, these photographs will make it into an ultimate photo album cherished by generations to come.

Today is Frances and Igor’s 1st wedding anniversary which they are spending in Prince Edward County! We’d like to wholeheartedly congratulate the couple and wish them many more anniversaries to come! Here are some of my favourite shots from their beautiful wedding below. Enjoy!
