Winter season is a great time to get our creative juices flowing and this anniversary photoshoot is something I wanted to put together for a long time.

I’m in love with both fashion and wedding photography and my goal for this creative was to create something that drew inspiration from editorial fashion with the bridal appeal. My love for fashion and statement pieces resonates with the gorgeous Heidi Dress by Narces and kimono suit by Hendrixroe at Stylist Box.  I used the warm color of pears and the vegetable quiche to inspire the majority of the wardrobe choices and details. To tone down the warm color palette, I introduced some shades of blue to make it more dynamic. Being the middle of winter, I don’t need to rush out every weekend to photograph beautiful weddings, therefore this shoot was inspired by a weekend off with bright sunlight and the relaxing breakfasts I’ve been enjoying with my husband. I’m also a big foodie and there’s nothing quite like a delicious Saturday breakfast. I wanted to bring that foodie element to the shoot to convey the mood and atmosphere of a relaxed anniversary session. The warm, earthy tones of the breakfast table set-up inspired the variations of peachy and neutral color tones in this creative.

Set-up:

I’m forever in love with the bright morning sun at Graydon Hall Manor and I knew it would be a perfect location for the shoot. I paired up with ever-so-talented Jordana Masi from White Oak Flower & Co to create a relaxed anniversary morning vibe. Jordana is such an amazing florist with a unique perception of florals and aesthetics. She brought delicate spring blooms to complement the morning sunlight and lush dried grass to create the atmosphere of a laid-back and countryside chic. To top it all off she also brought in handmade clay vases, bowls and a linen tablecloth with matching napkins that added a welcome touch of pleasant texture. Plate Occasions provided the most beautiful tableware and silverware that elevated the scene further.

How can you apply these elements to your photoshoot? Set the scene for your photos. Think about what makes you excited about life and what makes your imagination run wild. Have a specific set up in mind, whether it’s a casual at-home engagement session, canoeing on your favorite lake or having a date at your local coffee shop.

Wardrobe:

Today’s bride has the luxury of expressing herself and letting her unique style and taste shine through her wardrobe choices. I’m so happy to have Serena Vaz join the shoot, a fashion stylist extraordinaire who has worked with numerous fashion campaigns and magazines. She brought that edgy, unapologetic element of editorial fashion to the set. Keeping with the anniversary and bridal concept in mind, she started with classic touches (a suit for him and bridal gown for her) and then mixed in the modern and unique elements to reflect the style of today’s bride. Just imagine wearing this stunning kimono suit instead of a silky robe on the morning of your wedding! Wouldn’t it be so cool?

For the second look, we kept the model’s jewelry minimal and had her wear a romper paired with a statement blouse for the perfect balance of trendy and bridal. Exactly what I would love to see in all my engagement and anniversary shoots!

The third look was inspired by the stunning Heidi Dress by Narces and complemented by the equally edgy bridal bouquet to echo the dress’ delicate floral pattern. The field grass incorporated into the flowers was a nice element that tied the first and final looks together.

The talented Sierra from Sierra Artistry came up with natural, fresh makeup and hair looks that accentuated the model’s naturally beautiful features.

How can you apply these elements to your photoshoot?

Be different! Whether it’s your getting-ready photoshoot on the morning of your wedding, a romantic engagement session, a chic wedding anniversary shoot or a fun family session. Express yourself with your choice of wardrobe! Opt for unique statement pieces that tell something about you and your personality. Your choice of outfits should make you look and feel like a million bucks all while complementing your environment.

I hope you enjoy this anniversary photoshoot as much as I enjoyed working on it. I’d love to thank all the lovely people involved in this shoot:
