Yes! This whimsical country wedding gives me all the feels. WhitneyAnne and Jon are two of the most adventurous spirits I’ve met, and I had a blast getting to know them better leading up to the big day. They both love the outdoors (Jon actually proposed to WhitneyAnne while on a hike!) so it felt so natural that they decided to host their wedding outdoors at a family friend’s home in Muskoka.

Every time I need to photograph a wedding in a place where I have never been before, such as a private residence, it’s important for me to arrive there early to take a good look around. It’s so important that you scout your wedding photography locations beforehand so you have a clear game plan on the big day. I had a chance to visit their location before the wedding so I knew exactly where I wanted to take their wedding photos. It is also super helpful in determining where the right light is going to be so you come to the wedding shoot fully prepared.

WhitneyAnne and Jon tied the knot on the gorgeous Lake Muskoka at a private residence alongside their closest family and friends. Their wedding location offered a gorgeous property with a stunning waterfront view, where the bride and groom got ready with the rest of the bridal party. It was so refreshing to head outside with the girls to get a breath of fresh air and to take in the stunning views before embarking on an eventful wedding afternoon!

I decided to take them to the surrounding forest for their First Look. The anticipation was building up as Jon waited for WhitneyAnne to see her as a bride for the first time. The towering trees gave off a surreal feeling and offered a perfect, secluded environment for such an emotional moment. We then proceeded to their wedding portraits and it was easily one of my favorite parts of the day. The sun was just perfect casting that beautiful, golden glow. I spotted a tree that was standing there alone, picture perfect, and I took a lot of WhitneyAnne and Jon’s wedding photos there

The whole wedding went on without a hitch. Apart from the great company, heartfelt speeches, and wild dancing at night, here are the top 3 details that stood out to me from this wedding:

  1. Location

This wedding was held in Muskoka which offered immaculate trees and amazing waterfront views, perfect for any nature lover! This location created a perfect backdrop for a country wedding and offered the perfect amount of natural, glowing light.

  1. Less is More

The whole wedding was decorated with simple, yet beautiful details that tied the day together. The pastels alongside the wood and greenery made for a clean look that was just ever so effortlessly elegant.

  1. Donut table takes the cake!

WhitneyAnne and Jon opted for a fun alternative to their dessert table – a donut station! It doesn’t get more Canadian than this folks. There were so many different kinds to choose from and the table also added a pop of color to their country wedding reception. So fun!

The day was filled with pure joy and I couldn’t be more happy for WhitneyAnne and Jon! It was fantastic to see their love unite amongst those they love most. Thank you again WhitneyAnne and Jon for inviting me to be apart of your big day! I wish you all the best!
