I love when my couples opt for a relaxed and chill at home engagement photos. When it comes to scheduling your engagement session, we will discuss a wide array of engagement photo location possibilities, but one thing always rings true to some of my couples. Nothing beats coziness and relaxed atmosphere of your own home! That is why I always recommend considering taking your engagement photos at home. To be truthful, the at-home engagement photos are making a big wave in the photography community, and it’s easy to see why. Your home is where you’re your true self and this is where you feel 100% at ease. Of course, I love it when my couples choose to have their engagement photos in a beautiful park or walk around the city. However, I think that at-home engagement photos have that unique and special quality to them, and I love that too!

The big question to ask yourself when scheduling your engagement photos is “What does represent US?” If you’re two adventurous souls, we can drive out of the city and snap some epic photos in the forest! But if you’re up for something a little more relaxed, I happen to think that the best place to schedule your engagement photo session is right at home just like what Michelle and David did in these photos above. Here’s why:

  1. It documents real life.

The goal of every engagement session is to capture your unique personality as a couple. Having engagement photos at your own home sets a perfect scene for your everyday life and documents your love in an authentic and truthful way. The at home engagement session also documents things that you do in real life. Like cooking dinner. Or listening to your favorite LP. It gives a glimpse into your real life and who you are as a couple. It says a lot about your personality, which is awesome.

  1. It documents the real you.

Echoing my point above, the at home engagement photos capture a particular moment in your life where you were young, beautiful and crazy in love! Because there are so many personal things at home, like your private wine collection or musical instruments you are learning to play, they all tell something about you at that point in time. Looking back at your at-home engagement photos you will be able to tell what hobbies you had or what movies you loved to watch, and it’s going to be so interesting to look at these photos 20 or even 40 years from now!

  1. It documents your history.

Even if your place is not fully done, it is going to be so fun to look at it many years from now. Your at home engagement photos are like a tour of the place you were living when you were not married. Your choice of decor, furniture, and colors tell something about you and your personal taste, and it’s going to be really cool to be able to look at the place you were calling home in the future.

  1. You can be 100% at ease.

It comes with the fact that you’re in a very familiar place where you feel safe and relaxed. You will also probably wear comfortable, cozy clothes. Trust me, being comfortable and cozy is the biggest factor to a successful engagement session! Not everyone is a professional photo model, so when it comes to your engagement session it’s only natural for you to feel a little awkward in front of a camera. Having the at home engagement session will alleviate some of the stress that comes with taking pictures and will help you feel like yourself when there’s a photographer around.

I hope my points above will help you consider taking your very own at home engagement photos. As a rule of thumb, they tend to be super funny, very unique and incredibly comfy. Feel free to leave comments to let me know if you’re looking for some cool engagement photo locations! As for Michelle and David, thank you guys for inviting me to your place. It was bonkers to be around you guys, and I can’t wait for your wedding next year!
